The Lunar Nodes Shift Into Aquarius and Leo: A New Eighteen Month Chapter Begins

On July 26th, 2026, the Nodes of the Moon move from Pisces and Virgo into Aquarius and Leo, opening one of the most powerful collective chapters of the year. The North Node enters Aquarius. The South Node enters Leo. For the next eighteen months, all the way through March of 2028, the world moves along this axis, and every eclipse that follows will land here too.

This shift happens on the same day that Saturn stations retrograde in Aries, which is the cosmos asking us to release one whole way of being and step into another with intention. The energy is significant, and you will feel it.

What the Lunar Nodes Actually Are

The Nodes of the Moon are not planets. They are the points where the Moon's orbit crosses the path of the Sun, and in astrology they map the karmic axis of the collective and of every one of us.

The South Node points to where we have already been. It carries the energy of what is familiar and what we are being asked to release. The North Node points to where we are going, the direction the soul is meant to stretch into. The Nodes travel backward through the zodiac, shifting onto a new sign axis roughly every eighteen months, and each shift opens a fresh chapter of growth.

For the past eighteen months the Nodes have been on the Pisces and Virgo axis. We have been learning how to surrender, how to trust the unseen, and how to release the part of us that wanted everything perfect and controlled. That chapter is now complete.

Releasing Leo, Growing Toward Aquarius

Now the story turns.

The South Node moves into Leo, which means we are collectively releasing certain expressions of Leo that have outgrown their usefulness. This is not about shrinking your light or silencing your fire. Leo's gifts remain. What is being released is the shadow of Leo, the version of self that needs to be witnessed in order to feel real. The need to be the center of every story. The need for applause. The habit of measuring your worth by how brightly you shine in front of other people. Over the next eighteen months you will notice these patterns surfacing, in your own life and in the collective. Pay attention when they do.

The North Node enters Aquarius and points us toward where we are meant to grow. Aquarius is the sign of community, innovation, authentic individuality, and the future. It asks us to move from the lone star model into the constellation model. From "look at me" into "let me see you, and let us build something together." It asks us to bring our gifts forward not for recognition but because the world genuinely needs them.

This shift carries extra weight because Pluto is already in Aquarius. The North Node and Pluto will meet and dance across the eighteen month transit, pouring rocket fuel on everything Aquarius is asking of us. The collective is being asked to evolve, and personally, you are being asked to evolve along with it. The good news is that you are ready. Your soul chose to be here for this exact moment in history.

Eclipse Season Opens the Door

If regular New Moons are for planting seeds, eclipses are for letting the cosmos plant them in you.

The eclipses for the next eighteen months will nearly all land on the Leo and Aquarius axis, and they will speed up the work the Nodes are asking us to do. The first of them, the Total Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 12th, 2026 at 20 degrees of Leo, arrives just over two weeks after this nodal shift. It is the first eclipse on the new axis, and the first eclipse on a new nodal axis always carries a particular charge. It introduces the chapter. It announces the themes. It opens the door.

This eclipse is also visible from parts of Russia, Greenland, Iceland, and Spain, the first total solar eclipse to touch mainland Europe since 1999. Even if you cannot see it in the sky, you will feel it in your body. Eclipses pull back the veil. They reveal what you are ready to know, and they sometimes remove what no longer belongs in your life. This is your permission to let things rearrange themselves without needing to understand why.

This is the exact energy the Leo Season and New Moon Workbook is built to help you harness. Inside, you will find the full teaching on the nodal shift, the eclipse rituals, the journaling prompts, and the day by day timing to move through this first eclipse season with intention rather than overwhelm. It is your companion for the doorway that is opening. You can find it right here.

Every Eclipse While the Nodes Are in Aquarius and Leo

Here is the full map of the eclipses that arrive between the nodal shift on July 26th, 2026 and the next shift in the spring of 2028. Most land on the new Leo and Aquarius axis. A few land elsewhere, and those are the ones that tend to confuse people, so I have noted what each one is doing.

On the Leo and Aquarius axis, the heart of this chapter:

  • Total Solar Eclipse in Leo, August 12th, 2026, 20 degrees Leo. The first eclipse on the new axis. The door opens.
  • Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius, February 6th, 2027, 17 degrees Aquarius. A powerful new beginning around community, innovation, and your place in the collective.
  • Total Solar Eclipse in Leo, August 2nd, 2027, 9 degrees Leo. One of the longest totalities of the century, sweeping across North Africa and southern Europe. A major seed for the heart.
  • Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius, August 17th, 2027, 24 degrees Aquarius. A release point that shows you how far you have come along the Aquarius path.
  • Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius, January 26th, 2028, 6 degrees Aquarius. The final Aquarius eclipse of this cycle, closing the chapter before the Nodes move on.

The closing echoes of the previous Pisces and Virgo axis:

  • Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, August 27th, 2026, 4 degrees Pisces. This is the one that confuses people. It arrives inside the very first eclipse season of the new axis, yet it lands in Pisces, not Aquarius or Leo. That is because it is the final closure of the Pisces and Virgo eclipse series we have been living through for the past eighteen months. It is a last, tender release of the surrender, faith, and perfectionism themes of that chapter. Let it complete what was not yet complete, then let it go.
  • Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, February 20th, 2027, 2 degrees Virgo. A soft final echo of the Pisces and Virgo story, gentle and easy to miss.

The first whispers of the coming Cancer and Capricorn axis:

  • Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn, July 18th, 2027, 25 degrees Capricorn. A faint eclipse that hints at the next chapter, home, family, and foundations.
  • Partial Lunar Eclipse in Cancer, January 11th, 2028, 21 degrees Cancer. Another early signal of where the Nodes are heading after this chapter closes.

Where This Lands in Your Chart

The house of Leo in your chart shows you where you are releasing the older expression. The house of Aquarius shows you where you are being called to grow. To see this clearly, look up your free birth chart at chart.spiritdaughter.com and find your rising sign below.

  • Aries rising: releasing in creativity, romance, and joy. Growing toward community and your vision of the future.
  • Taurus rising: releasing in home and family. Growing toward career and public purpose.
  • Gemini rising: releasing in how you speak and learn. Growing toward beliefs, study, and expansion.
  • Cancer rising: releasing in money and self-worth. Growing toward intimacy and shared resources.
  • Leo rising: releasing in identity and how you present yourself. Growing toward partnership and the people you build with.
  • Virgo rising: releasing in the unseen and the spiritual. Growing toward daily work, health, and routine.
  • Libra rising: releasing in friendships and community. Growing toward creativity, romance, and play.
  • Scorpio rising: releasing in career and reputation. Growing toward home, family, and roots.
  • Sagittarius rising: releasing in beliefs and higher learning. Growing toward communication and everyday connection.

  • Aquarius rising: releasing in partnership. Growing toward yourself, your identity, and how you show up in the world.
  • Pisces rising: releasing in work and routine. Growing toward spirituality, rest, and the unseen.

If you do not know your houses yet, you can still work with this transit. The Nodes always speak loudly enough to be heard when you are listening.

How to Move Through the Next Eighteen Months

Move slowly. Trust what is being released, even when it is uncomfortable. Trust what is being asked of you, even when it feels too big. The cosmos does not give you an assignment your soul cannot carry.

On a personal level, this chapter is asking you a few questions. Where are you still performing? Where is your worth measured by applause rather than by alignment? And on the other side of those questions, where is your soul asking you to expand into community, to contribute, to belong, to dream of something bigger than your own story? Notice the answers that arrive. They may come as flashes of insight, dreams, conversations, or feelings that rise while you are doing something else.

By the time the Nodes shift again in early 2028, your life will look meaningfully different from the way it looks today. Some of the change will be initiated by you. Some of it will arrive without warning. All of it is in service of the version of you that is becoming.

The Total Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 12th is the door for this entire eighteen month journey. If you want to walk through it with the full teaching, the eclipse rituals, and the timing laid out for you day by day, the Leo Season and New Moon Workbook is your companion for all of it. This is your invitation to step into a much bigger version of yourself than you may have been willing to claim before.

You are exactly where you are meant to be.
