Eclipse Season: A Glimpse of the Future

*Before reading this article, it is highly suggested you look up your North or Ascending Node here. Your South Node is exactly opposite your North Node.

This Aries Season brings us the rare occurrence of two New Moons in Aries. This second New Moon is even more special because the second New Moon is coupled with a hybrid solar eclipse, which is a combination of an annular and total eclipse. Although its beauty will be seen only in parts of Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Pacific, its effects will be felt throughout the world. The eclipse will begin on April 19th, at 6:37 p.m. PDT, with its maximum point at 8:16 p.m. PDT. It ends at 9:56 p.m. PDT, just hours before the Sun enters Taurus on April 20th at 1:13 a.m. PDT. The eclipse happens at the same moment everywhere. You can adjust these times to your local time zone to find out when it is occurring for you. For much of the world, the eclipse will occur on April 20th. It’s also important to note that the New Moon exact time (when the Sun and Moon are at the same degree in the sky) occurs at 9:12 p.m. PDT. This occurs within the Eclipse window but is different from the maximum eclipse point.

Solar eclipses occur on New Moons, while lunar eclipses occur on Full Moons. What makes them possible is the Moon’s and Sun's proximity to the lunar nodes. The North and South Nodes exist where the Sun's path and the Moon's orbit intersect. They are energetic vortices full of magic and potential. On a solar eclipse, we have the energy of the Moon, the Sun, and the vibrations of the lunar nodes to direct toward our evolution.

Just like the Moon and Sun, the North and South Nodes are located within a zodiac constellation. Currently, the North Node is located in the sign of Taurus, while the South Node sits in opposition in Scorpio. When the Moon and Sun are positioned within 17 degrees of either node, an eclipse becomes possible. This positioning is what also designates an Eclipse season. This first Eclipse season of 2023 lasts from April 8th until May 10th, with a solar eclipse in Aries and a lunar eclipse in Scorpio.

The lunar nodes are a few months away from moving into Aries and Libra. This New Moon in Aries occurs close enough to the North Node in Taurus for a solar eclipse to take place, bringing together the energies of the Sun, Moon, and North Node. It is the first eclipse of a series of eclipses that will take place on the Aries Libra axis until January 12th, 2025, so this eclipse is showing us a preview of the future.

Eclipse seasons are always powerful periods of change and revelation. While the eclipses are the highlights, we have the entire 34-day period to embrace the energies of Lunar Nodes and harness their energies. Eclipses open portals for us to step through and make exponential life changes. The North Node pulls society's energy in one direction, signaling where we are headed as a collective. It holds the lessons humanity is learning and integrating during a specific period. The North Node's position in Taurus is helping heal the collective by bringing us to stillness after a chaotic few years. It’s also encouraging us to connect more deeply with nature to nourish ourselves and, in turn, focus on protecting the planet. As the North Node moves toward Aries, there will be more emphasis on the self. This position helps us focus on how we can help the collective by prioritizing our soul’s purpose.

The South Node is what we are leaving behind as a society, particularly the lower vibrations of the sign involved. It is what the collective is evolving away from and often represents vibrations we have already mastered as a society. The South Node in Scorpio asks us to step away from chaos and trauma. It illuminates places where we are attached to drama and mistrust. It has shown us the underbelly of society as a way of creating change and fostering growth. As the South Node moves into Libra, a more peaceful time will occur. We’ll see how certain relationships have held us back. It will also illuminate injustices in our system and how the collective has been attached to them. The Nodes officially move into Aries and Libra on July 12th, when we will really feel these energies starting to influence us. The solar eclipse in Aries is a glimpse of what is to come.

We each have a personal North and South Node along with the collective nodal positions. The placement of our North Node shows us where we are headed in our personal evolution and highlights the lessons we are here to learn in this lifetime. We often resist these energies early in life, but we soon find they are the key to understanding our life's purpose and karmic path. The position of our South Node shows the energies we've come into this world already knowing. It is our place of comfort, but also the place that can block our evolution if we become attached to its familiarity. Our job in this lifetime is to walk from South to North Node, leaving behind the known and mastering the unknown.

Eclipse Season is the perfect time to make steps on your nodal path. It’s a time to detach from the energies of your South Node while embracing the energies of your North Node. During Eclipse Season, great revelations occur that can help you shift your perspective and your attachments. Be open to downloads of energetic information during this entire season. Spend time in mediation and be open to hits of insights coming your way. Be open to the Universe revealing things to you. Some of these revelations may be shocking initially, but they will soon help you transition to a new version of yourself. Take care of your nervous system, though, and align with nature to ground you during any chaotic times.

The Aries Solar Eclipse on April 19th is a great time of closure and new beginnings. It’s a time to make leaps toward the collective North Node's energies of Taurus and Aries and your personal North Node. When you find your personal North Node, ask yourself how the highest vibrations of Taurus and Aries can help you integrate the energies of your personal North Node into your life. This may include healing through stillness or connecting with nature. It may be focusing on the abundance already in your life. Or it may be making your soul’s mission a priority while learning to say no without guilt.

The Scorpio Lunar Eclipse on May 5th is a potent time to release attachments of your South Nodal energies and any lower vibration of Scorpio that you carry. This Eclipse encourages you to dive deep and commit to shadow work to help make the unconscious conscious. Scorpio’s energy helps you understand that what is underneath the surface still controls you even if you don’t acknowledge it. Through this eclipse’s intensity, know that you have the power to create any transformation you need in your life. It may not feel particularly good when it occurs, but the change it creates opens the door for your highest energetic potential.

Enjoy the journey of this Eclipse season, and know that it is a special time in the year and in your life for you to make the changes needed to reach your energy and potential. Open yourself up to the information and energy available to you, and know that the Universe is always here to support you and your journey. Trust your path and trust the path of this eclipse.
