March 2023 Astrology Forecast

March is coming in with a cosmic bang this year. You may have felt a sleepy start to 2023 with no major planetary moves. That all changes once we enter March. With all the energetic shifts abound, it’s important to ground your energy and protect your peace through this Month. Have tools and practices handy to help you as we ride the waves of change to a new horizon.

On March 7th, the same day as the Virgo Full Moon, Saturn leaves Aquarius and enters the waters of Pisces for the next two years. The ringed planet will travel through the sign of Pisces until May 2025, then will re-enter during a retrograde transit from August 2025 until February 2026.

Saturn in Pisces is a very different placement than Saturn’s last two transits, which were in Aquarius and Capricorn. Saturn is the planetary ruler of both of these signs and is quite at home in both Aquarius and Capricorn. In Pisces, Saturn’s firm boundaries are softened. Pisces and Saturn are very different energies. Where Pisces flows, Saturn likes clear direction. Where Pisces is expansive and boundless, Saturn can be confining and limiting. Where Pisces is free-flowing, Saturn is concrete.

Saturn in Pisces helps us place some structure and organization around our healing, spiritual practices, and soul development. This transit teaches us that when we undergo spiritual growth, it affects all aspects of our lives and the lives of others. For instance, when we have a daily practice of meditation, it creates a calm energy that impacts our day, our choices, and our interactions with others. Our peace can affect those around us and create a cascade of peaceful energy in the world. Saturn in Pisces reminds us that we are responsible for taking care of our own energy through practices that ground us, help us heal, and ultimately further our soul growth.

On March 20th, We have the March Equinox and the start of Aries Season. This is the official astrological New Year and brings opportunities to set intentions for the rest of the year. You can learn more about this Equinox, Aries Season and how to create visions for the year in the Aries Workbook

On March 23rd, just a few days into Aries Season, Pluto leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius. Its stay in Aquarius is short—only until June 11th—but it is just enough to give us a glimpse of the next two decades.

Pluto sits at the edge of the solar system, signifying the boundary to the rest of the Universe. In astrology, it rules the cycles of life, including birth, death, and rebirth. Pluto often helps us find acceptance, closure, and healing in our past. It guides us in saying goodbye to past pain and even helps us destroy patterns that bind us to yesterday. Through this destruction, Pluto offers regeneration and new beginnings. It transforms the old into something new.

Pluto’s entry into Aquarius marks a time when great transformations are available to society. We may see the rise of advanced technologies—ones we could only dream of last decade. Pluto also rules pandemics and the transformation they bring. We could see the invention of many technologies and medicines around the pandemic that will transform the way we operate in society. Pluto has a way of coming in and changing things so much that we barely remember the way it was before. We may see these changes happen around tools we use against viruses and other pathogens affecting society.

On a personal level, Pluto in Aquarius encourages us to think about our place in the collective. It asks us to focus on how we can contribute our unique genius to moving society forward. It also asks what we need to heal to connect with love, the highest vibration that connects all of us. It asks us where we need to transform to tap into our personal power—the one capable of changing our lives and those around us.

On June 11th, Pluto will re-enter Capricorn due to a retrograde. It will slip in and out of Capricorn until it finally settles in Aquarius on January 21st, 2024, where it will remain for the next twenty years. Consider the next few months a preview of what’s to come and get ready to find your power and place in the collective. You can learn more about this transit in the Aries Workbook

On March 25th, Mars enters Cancer until May 20th. This is a big deal because Mars, who usually only spends a few months in a sign, has been in Gemini for the last seven months due to a retrograde. Mars is softened in Cancer, but still brings us fire where we need it. Mars helps us find our motivation, passion, and willpower. This fiery planet has spent the last seven months in an air sign, stimulating the mental realm and bringing passion to our conversations.

As Mars shifts into Cancer, we feel an energetic shift in our actions. This transit supports taking steps to build yourself a new home both physically and emotionally. It asks you to move forward while nurturing yourself and giving yourself what you need. Mars often compels us to take charge, make big moves, or achieve something through sheer will. Mars in Cancer reminds us that small steps move us forward too and sometimes subtle shifts are best for our nervous system.

As these cosmic events take place, remember to connect with your breath and honor your process of evolution. When planets make big changes, we feel it. Take some time to journal about your experience and be aware of how these vibrational transitions are affecting you and the people around you. The more awareness you can bring to your experience, the less intense it will feel and the more opportunities you’ll find with each planetary shift.
